With over 11 years of experience in the field, Gupta is a seasoned entrepreneur and sustainability expert. Gupta is also a Mafioso at the sustainability mafia, a community of climate tech entrepreneurs and leaders working to make sustainability the default choice and position India as the engine of the world's sustainability solutions by 2030. Prior to his current roles, Gupta served as an Executive Council Member at the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy, where he worked to build a solid energy efficiency industry and vibrant community of young and experienced efficiency professionals. Gupta's passion for sustainability began during his time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a S.M. in Technology and Policy. His LBNL report, "Eliminating Electricity Deficit through Energy Efficiency in India," inspired him to found Smart Joules in 2015. The company's mission is to reduce energy waste in buildings and factories in order to provide reliable access to energy for millions of Indians. Gupta's educational background also includes a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
